2024 Screen Queensland Crew Accelerator Recipients

Nine Sunshine Coast locals are getting the chance of a lifetime on this year’s Sunny Coast Showdown, thanks to Screen Queensland.

Co-founder of Showdown and Powderfinger band member Jon Coghill said, “This program is a pathway for hundreds of creative jobs for Sunny Coast locals. Whether they want to write screenplays, direct, act, film, or build sets, imagine all those jobs and fully fledged studios here on our doorstep.”

With industry veterans like Writer/Director John Harvey, D.O.P. Brendan Williams ACS., Director Wes Green, Producer/Director Janneke Williamson, Colourist Warren Eagles CSI., and Post-Production Supervisor/Editor Bill Missett as mentors, the accelerator participants are poised for a significant leap in their skills and confidence.

Dan Munday said, “Screen Queensland is tireless in its pursuit of training more crew in the state to launch careers and increase capacity. These nine individuals have been standout performers in our local film community and are now getting the chance to be mentored by some of the industry’s best.

A specialised program to mentor and upskill film crew on the Sunny Coast focuses on Liz Boyd, Louise Hayse, Martin Doyle, Charis Gibson, Hing Ang, Esther de Shone, Elsie Bowditch, Beverley Marcusson, and Lincoln Knight.

The Sunny Coast Showdown, presented by Bendigo Community Bank—Tewantin, Cooroy, Marcoola—is a non-profit film and T.V. incubator focused on growing the industry on the Sunshine Coast.

Now in its third year, the program has seen past films garner over 40 accolades at domestic and international film festivals, solidifying the Sunshine Coast’s position on the film and TV map.
