The Sunshine Coast Screen Collective’s Showdown Showcase is a night of amazing, locally produced short films.
The Sunny Coast Showdown presented by Bendigo Bank Community Bank is a not-for-profit initiative that is building a sustainable film industry in the region.
In its third year, the event has proven its worth, having produced 20 short films and documentaries that have won more than 60 film festival awards from around the world.
These films are a testament of what local cast, crew, producers and directors are capable of – all killer and no filler
Showdown is a film and tv incubator competition organized by Showdown, a not for profit organization who works in conjunction with Screen Collective, another not for profit organization, to promote the film/tv industry for locals on the Sunny Coast. Sunny Coast residents submit their scripts or treatments and 6 winners are chosen by a panel of judges. The winning scripts are then produced using local Sunny Coast Cast and Crews. We work with established industry professionals as well as students looking to start their career in the film industry, and people who are either up-skilling or entering into the film/tv industry as a career change. At Day 2 of ShowFest, the Showdown Showcase, all projects made from the competition are viewed, judged and the winner of the best project of Showdown 24 wins best in show and goes home with the coveted Golden Yewwy.
