ShowdownDOC is a documentary production initiative developed by the not-for-profit Sunny Coast Showdown to help propel the Sunshine Coast into a major Australian screen hub.The ShowdownDOC competition aims to discover, select and produce a single “winning” documentary project (or specific stage of a project) that has strong audience and impact potential.

From all documentary submissions, four projects will be shortlisted, with only one project being selected by a panel of Industry-leading Judges to move into production.

The winning project will receive up to $150,000  of production support, to be administered by Sunny Coast Showdown, to bring the documentary to life.

Key Objectives
The main objective of ShowdownDOC is to support local/regional filmmakers in the creation of powerful documentary storytelling and provide a pathway for an outstanding non-fiction project to be produced.

ShowdownDOC is looking for compelling, bold and visually distinctive documentary projects with strong audience appeal and meaningful impact.ShowdownDOC is particularly interested in non-fiction projects with commercial appeal that can be produced within the available resources and timeline.

Whether your story/project uncovers a hidden world, follows an extraordinary individual, explores an important social issue, or reveals an untold story, ShowdownDOC aims to support bold documentary filmmaking that resonates with audiences in Australia and internationally.
